HE/HIM 1,900+ BLOOMS VA NEEDED

Journal is one of the oldest residents of The House who has a special connection to it. Nobody really knows why or how, but it has always been like that. He is polite but also slightly scatterbrained, and likes to extend guidance for any newcomers. He tries to make them feel safe even when he's not sure what to say or is confused himself. He always, somehow, appears at the right place at the right time. When you come across him, you're guaranteed to be met with a smile and a wave.

TALKING TO A NEW ARRIVAL
The hallway gets longer when you look at it. Most people don't notice that. I've timed it- well, not timed it, I don't have a watch, but I've-- I've counted, with my steps, and you'll go nine steps and look up and you're somewhere you weren't before, and-- (catches himself rambling) anyway. Sorry. Um. Is that your room? It is, look, it's got your name on it. Welcome home, Puppy.

TALKING TO HIMSELF
I think this is the mug that Mirror likes. The one with the chip. I'll set it on the front of the shelf so it's the first one she sees. It's silly. She'd never know. But I'd know.

TALKING TO ANYONE
I don't really go to the Boardwalk. I know everyone says I should. There's nothing wrong with the Boardwalk, I just... I'd rather be here. Even when nobody's home, even when it's just me and the kitchen and the quiet, that's still nicer to me than anywhere else. (softer) I think about that sometimes, how lucky I am. That my favorite place is the place I'm always in.

TALKING TO THE HOUSE
You did the thing with the lamp this morning. The flicker. Twice, then a pause, then once. I know what you mean by that. (small smile in his voice) I love that we have that. Most people don't have a... a sort of private language with their home. I know I'm lucky.
